Title:   Moments from Ishuri Ryacu (Our School) : A Play about Discrimination Against PLWHA Uploaded By:  rapsida Date:   July 15 2006 Description:   This material was produced by high  ... (more) This material was produced by high school students trained by RAPSIDA's Jesse Hawkes at the VSO/CARE HIV Prevention Workshop. 6 hours of training, and then 6 hours of creation/rehearsals produced this material. None of these students had ever heard of musical theatre prior to this workshop. Ishuri Ryacu is the story of a high school girl named Ingabire (Queen Umutoni -- in the Red Hat) who has HIV and who is not accepted at her school, until one by one people begin to listen to their inner voices/songs and come to help her. The first half of the video clip shows the end of the play, when students begin to accept Ingabire. The second half shows moments from the beginning of the play: students say good morning to each other, and Rose (emcee) explains that all seems good to us at first, but we must pay attention to the pain experienced by Ingabire.
